Designing on the go to put together geometry is quite creative and usually makes a great model. I have this example of a building I did on the fly after viewing a few Architecture magazines. The changing colours of this building are from a heat sensitive material that changes colour according to temperature. Glass panels change to different colours at the same temperature for a wide colour pallet.
