Unesco World heritage status is a key coveted prize of the city Shangri-La in China. So much so that they are chopping off the tops of several buildings to gain the status of heritage. Several other cities already have the status of China's "most beautiful cities". This is a nice intervention by the government of China and it will have more positive effects in the future when Unesco opens their Environmental Quality Status.
